This week I wanted to talk about healing yourself of anxiety with the power of spirit and through Reiki. Like many people, I have struggled with anxiety at various times throughout my life. At times it felt like every thought in my head was racing and I couldn’t slow my thinking down to focus on whatever the task is at hand. It was uncomfortable, embarrassing, and not something I could just “shake off” as some people might think.
Now, this is not easy for me to admit knowing that many of my clients and friends are reading this. However, by walking-the-walk and not just talking-the-talk I believe that I can help people who may be struggling with anxiety. Am I anxiety free? No. I still experience anxiety from time to time, but now when I sense it coming on, I do something about it before it consumes me. Here are a few simple things I do to deal with anxiety.
One technique I use is to place my right hand over my Heart and my left hand over my solar plexus. While doing this I am conscious of my breath as I administer healing to myself. This method quickly eases my anxiety and puts me in a calmer place. Try it the next time you’re feeling a bit anxious and I’m sure you’ll feel a difference.
A method I use if I’m in a crowded area or if there are people around is this — I become conscious of my breath, and I envision that I am surrounded by my spirit guides and by the ascended masters. Then the first chance I get I take five minutes and administer Reiki to myself. If you haven’t been attuned to Reiki you might try a short ten-minute meditation.
Healing Stress and Anxiety with Reiki
It was because of my anxiety and the feeling that my life was spiraling out of control that I knew I had to find a better way. Today, I am twenty-six years sober; I am married twenty-two years and have three children; I am a Reiki Master; a Massage therapist; and I own a healing center named Synchronicity in Brewster New York. I firmly believe that my successes in life and my power to alleviate stress are directly related to my ability to tap into a healing energy that is within me and around me. This energy is sometimes called Chi. The restriction of Chi through negative thinking, poor diet, or an unhealthy lifestyle can result in sickness and disease. One way of adjusting our Chi energy is through Reiki.
The word “Reiki” can be broken into two syllables. Rei, which means higher, guided consciousness; and Ki, which means energy. So, Reiki means divinely guided energy. Reiki is a simple healing technique passed down from a Reiki Master to the student. Mikao Usui-Sensei discovered Reiki in Japan in the early 1900’s. Usui-Sensei studied and meditated with the Buddhists monks. One day while meditating on Mt. Kurama, he had a spiritual awakening and acquired what is known today as Reiki. When he tried Reiki healing on himself and his family, it brought about miraculous results. The Japanese government honored Usui-Sensei for his dedication to healing others. One of the people he passed this ability to heal onto was his student Dr. Hayash. Dr. Hayash passed it onto Mrs. Takata who is credited for bringing Reiki to the West in 1937. Today, Reiki continues to be passed down from Master to student and can be learned by anyone.
I received Reiki training from William Lee Rand who was attuned by some of Mrs. Takata’s students. This makes for a very short linage to Reiki’s founder. Whomever I attune to Reiki will also be of a short linage. For me, practicing Reiki is like making a sacred contract with the ascended masters to channel and administer Chi (energy) with the intention of bringing divine healing. If you are interested in learning Reiki, all it takes is an open mind and a willingness to let spirit work through you for the benefit of all. I teach and practice Reiki at Synchronicity Healing Center in Brewster New York. I teach Reiki 1 and Reiki 2 back to back, each month in one day. I also teach a Reiki Master class few times a year.
Reiki has changed my life and the life of countless others that I’ve worked with. If you would like a complementary demonstration or would like to know more about Reiki, please don’t hesitate to contact me at email@example.com, or call me at 845-363-1765.
I wish you and yours all the best life has to offer.
This is a subject that I’m sure you are all familiar with since the release of Rhonda Byrne’s book The Secret, and the movie of the same name. Countless books before The Secret dealt with the law of attraction, but it was the movie and book that brought it to the forefront. To be honest, I knew very little about this universal law of attraction until The Secret came out, which might explain why my life was in a downward spin a lot of the time even when I tried to think positive. When something went wrong in my life, I would do my best to have faith and think positive. I believed deep down that things would work out. However, I just couldn’t let go of the feeling that you get when things aren’t working out, so more of the same things that I didn’t want kept showing up.
The law of attraction states: You get what you think about, whether you want it or not. Why did I never know this simple yet sometimes quite complicated law, which is guaranteed to work just as the law of gravity is guaranteed to work? The complicated part of this for me was that I spent more time thinking about what I didn’t want than I did thinking about what I did want. Some would say I was looking at the problem rather than the solution. But it’s more than this simple explanation; I was feeling the pain of the problem more than feeling the anticipation of the solution. I didn’t purposely do this, I just didn’t know any better until I went to see a lady by the name of Esther Hicks.
Esther Hicks has written many great books on the law of attraction. As a matter of fact, the producers of The Secret approached her and her husband Jerry Hicks about the subject. I recently went to see Esther talk to a few thousand people in Stamford CT, and it has had a huge impact on my life ever since. After the lecture I bought all of her books, CDs and DVDs. Although I’ve read some of her work before, I finally get it. It’s all about feeling.
You see, the one ingredient I was missing that Ester Hicks explains over and over is that when you know what you don’t want, its then that you have the power to know what it is that you do want. For example: I feel bad. What do I want? Well, I want to feel good! Now, you need to change how you feel about what you don’t want to the feeling of what you do want. It’s all about feeling. How you feel is how you’re vibrating, and it’s your vibration that attracts the people and situations that create your reality.
Sometimes it’s hard to jump from feeling down to feeling great all at once. It’s times like this that it’s important to change how you feel just a little at a time until you replace the bad feeling with a good feeling. An example of this might be that you are unemployed, find it hard to make ends meet, and the bills keep coming in. In a case like this you just can’t jump from feeling broke to feeling rich because that just feels false. But you can change the feeling of lack to a better feeling. For example, you might try to think of something you’re grateful for in your life. It could be the fact that you have your health, or that you are loved by others. Or you could be grateful for the people in your life that you love. The idea is to change the bad feeling of lack into a better feeling. As you start to feel better, your situation gets a little better, and so you begin to feel even better. Good feelings build on good feelings until you get out of a rut and start understanding how this all works. Then you can start feeling how it would feel to have a job and be able to pay the bills. It is from feeling like this that you will feel more empowered to look for work and attract prosperity. This is just one example. The point is this: Whatever is going on in your life is a reflection of your feeling. If you change how you’re feeling, you can change what’s going on in your life. It’s that simple. As Dr. Wayne Dyer says, Change your thoughts — Change your life. It just takes a small shift in perception by being conscious of how your feeling.
I hope this little bit of advice helps someone out there. It has helped me create a more joyous life. For me it’s not all about the expensive cars and millions of dollars that some people talk about. It’s all about living a happy, joyous life and everything else will fall into place.
I was so happy to get such a great response to my first blog ever on “Living the life you were born to live” in last week’s newsletter. If you missed it you can find it here. It is my intention to write a blog for this newsletter on subjects that inspire and touch my heart every other week.
I really want you all to know that Synchronicity is so much more than just a business, for me it’s a type of calling from spirit to connect with other likeminded people. Eight years ago in July of 2006, I opened Synchronicity in Pawling, New York. I knew nothing about running a metaphysical shop and healing center. I was involved in a completely different kind of business and wasn’t sure where life was leading me.
Even though I owned a courier business at the time, I was a Reiki practitioner and felt like I had so much more to offer and learn from spirit. I took a chance at age 45, sold my share in a fairly lucrative courier company in Manhattan and bought a small store on a back street, out-of-view, in Pawling, New York. Business wasn’t good for the six years I spent in Pawling, but it was a learning experience and I never gave up knowing that spirit wouldn’t let me down.
Today, in Brewster New York, I just keep reaching out to people and making more friends, explaining and demonstrating the healing services and products we have at Synchronicity.
I truly believe we are all spirit, a little piece of one huge spirit (God, Source) looking to become and feel our best every day. I look forward to building lasting relationships with all of you by reaching out to you and doing my best to host workshops, provide healing services and merchandise to enrich your, and our, lives. It is only by doing this that I can continue to evolve and do God’s work.
